This year`s theme is the 40th anniversary of the Falklands War. We do have a link to the Falklands in the cemetery!!

The tour will last about 1hr finishing at our Cross of Sacrifice where a minutes silence will be observed & a wreath laid.

Open to all....not pushchair friendly.

4 tours of the cemetery this year attracted a total of 130 people.

The weather was exceptionally kind to us and the cemetery was looking very tidy after the efforts of the Community Program. Many people arrived seeking help finding relatives so many in fact that arrangements had to be made to meet up at a later date.

20 copies of Sylvia`s book were sold and some visitors became members.

There will be 4 free tours of the Cemetery this year, open to everyone:

  • Friday 9th - 11am
  • Tuesday 13th - 11am
  • Friday 16th - 11am
  • Sunday 18th - 2pm

Please Note:

  • Tours will take approx. 90 minutes
  • Some free parking available in cemetery or [small charge] in Medical Museum opposite.
  • Toilets & café available at the Medical Museum (if open)
  • Difficult terrain at times. Not suitable for people with mobility issues.

As part of the National Cemeteries Week, the Friends of Beckett Street Cemetery will repeat the Women in Beckett Street Cemetery Tour (originally held on International Women's Day). The second tour will be again be given by Sylvia Hodges on 8th May 2022. The lives and professions of women buried there will be discussed as we take a one hour walk around looking at their memorials. Meet at the Notice Board, near the main gate, at 2pm. All welcome.

This year’s Annual General Meeting will be at the Thackray Museum of Medicine, in person once again! It will be preceded by a short tour around the Cemetery at 1.15pm (meet by the notice board), and followed by Alun Pugh’s talk, ‘Painting..Performing & Putting out Fires’. The café will be open, and attendance entitles us to free entry to the Museum, which has been refurbished since we last visited. We look forward to seeing you!
