Mary Kirk was an active member of the female Temperance Society as reported in the Leeds Intelligencer Obituary 9th July 1859. She was born on 20 September 1796 and was Baptised on 21st October at St Peters Church, Leeds. Her father was Thomas Holme.
Mary Holme married George Kirk on 4th May 1817 at St Peters Church, Leeds (see Marriage Certificate below). He was a brick maker. They had two children George, born 21 January 1821 and Mary Ann (Hannah) born 23 November 1833, baptised (see Certificate below) 10 February 1835.
George (Jnr) was baptised on 23 April 1821 at St Peters Church, Leeds, living Sykes Yard. He married Hannah Foster (see Marriage Certificate below) on 8th April 1839, he was Brick-maker like his father, living 46 Charles Street.
On 1851 Census George (Snr) and Mary were living in Charles St, with daughter Mary Ann who was unmarried and grandchildren John W. (born 1845) and Elizabeth (born 1848). These grandchildren were the children of George (Jnr) and Hannah.
In 1861 George (Snr) was still living in Charles Street, he was widower, age 66, living with Hannah (his daughter-in-law), John William his grandson and Elizabeth his granddaughter.
George Kirk (Snr) died aged 69 in 1864, of Charles Street and is buried in a common grave, number 20761. There is no headstone.
