Buried in Grave number 22817 are William Hudson, his second wife Maria, and his parents Sarah and John Hudson.  His three infant children are mentioned on the memorial but they are buried separately in three common graves.  

Maria Mann was born in Leeds in 1823, the younger daughter of David and Maria Mann, a Labourer.  In 1841 the Census shows she was a Wool Carder, and had a sister, Emma, two years older, who was a Flax Cleaner.  

William Hudson was born in Armley, Leeds in 1817 the son of John and Sarah Hudson.  John was a Spinner.      

On 24 January 1841 William Hudson and Ann Leathead had a daughter, Sarah Ann Hudson Leathead, sadly she died on 2 October 1841 at 9 months old.    On 10 April 1842 William and Ann were married (see Marriage Certificate below).  Ann died in 1844, age 25 and was buried at St Peters Church, Leeds (Parish Church).   

William married for a second time to Maria Mann on 29 December 1845 at St Peters Church, Leeds (Parish Church).  (See Marriage Certificate below).  William and Maria had three children, but they all died young and are buried in common graves:- Druscilla, died 1850, 9 weeks old, Horatio William, died 24 August 1854, 2 yrs old and Maria died 22 August 1856, 5 hours old.

In 1851 Maria was a Milliner & Straw Bonnet Maker.

In 1861 William had a timber business employing 14 men and 6 boys.

In 1871 William and Maria were living in Spencer Place, New Leeds.

William Hudson died 28 October 1872 at Newton Villa, New Leeds.  (See Probate below)

Maria Hudson died 24 October 1883 at Hope Villa, Leopold Street, Leeds.
