The eldest child of Horace & Annie Sturdy, she lived at 7 Elford Terrace from aged 10 to her death in 1976. The house remained pretty much unchanged in all that time. She worked as a telephonist for Leeds Central Exchange from aged 14 to her retirement in 1941 aged 60. Eva never married. She was a founder member of Leeds Choral Society at St. Aidens church and a member of the Leeds Operatic Society. A religious lady Eva played an active roll at St. Aidens as well as being a Sunday School teacher at St. Wilfreds. She was also a member of St. John Ambulance & helped care for wounded soldiers billeted at the church hall during WW1. Eva was cremated at Lawnswood Cemetery and is remembered on the family headstone.
